Tomang Gets New Communal Sanitation Facility

Access to proper sanitation is essential to a healthy living environment. To support that goal, PAL Jaya has built a communal sanitation facility in Tomang Urban Village, West Jakarta, expanding access to sanitation while promoting Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) among residents.

The facility was inaugurated by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno, accompanied by West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah, sub-district and urban village officials, and local residents.

The inauguration also marked the Open Defecation Free (ODF) declaration, reaffirming a shared commitment to creating neighborhoods free from open defecation and fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable living environment.

PAL Jaya President Director Untung Suryadi said the communal sanitation facility is part of the company's commitment to expanding access to proper sanitation for Jakarta residents.

He added that PAL Jaya will also launch a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Gerakan Bangun MCK (Build a Communal Sanitation Facility Movement), to bring together stakeholders from across sectors to build sanitation facilities in underserved areas.

Through the program, PAL Jaya is inviting collaboration with private companies, state-owned and region-owned enterprises, community groups, and other stakeholders to expand access to adequate sanitation for more residents.

"Improving sanitation requires collaboration and synergy from all sectors. Through the Gerakan Bangun MCK program, PAL Jaya invites all stakeholders to work together in building a cleaner and healthier Jakarta," Untung said on Tuesday (6/30).

He said collaboration is key to expanding equitable access to sanitation services and creating healthier, more comfortable, and more livable neighborhoods.

The initiative aligns with the Jakarta Provincial Government's vision of developing Jakarta into a global city supported by high-quality basic infrastructure. It also marks another step toward Jakarta's 500th anniversary by promoting a healthier, more sustainable, and more livable urban environment.
